At the weekend of 23/24 July Chimay was instead of Beer capital of Belgium, road racing capital of Belgium. Besides races for the National Championship also round 3 of the Int. Road Racing Championship was held there. With 40 riders from 7 nations entered this round a truly International Championship.
Saturdays practice was a very wet day, so the results were a bit different from normal. I ended up 10th in the Supersport class and 9th in the IRRC. So we could start all the races from the 3th row.
Sunday morning brought out the sunshine and soon the temperatures went up also. First race of the day was the SSP at 9 am. With a wet track everyone started on full wets, and during the race the track dried up soon. After my usual good start i finished the race in 7th position. For the first leg of the IRRC we soon changed wheels with slick tyres. After again a clean start we could stay up front and retain my position. Sadly during the race I lost some places, partly because of some slight silly mistakes by myself and because other riders were riding faster.. We crossed the finishline in 15th position.
In the afternoon we had the second legs for both classes. In the Supersport race we ended up in 10th position and the IRRC again in 15th. All results can be viewed at ris-timing. Because of these results I moved upwards in the championship table to the 16th place. With just a few points behind riders in the top 15, complete list can be viewed here. Round 4 of the IRRC is in Terlicko (Cz) and the track is new for everyone. So again I could benefit from my experiences on “Real Road tracks” and break into the top 15.
